Wegmans is moving into Harrison, 22 miles northeast of Manhattan. That much you likely know. But since December 2016 when the much-beloved upstate grocery chain made the announcement of its first site in Westchester, what has been going on behind the scenes? Here’s a look at the past two years, plus everything you ever wanted to know about the store.
What has been going on?
December 2016: The announcement is made. Wegmans Food Markets signs a purchase agreement with Normandy Real Estate Partners for 20 acres at 106-110 Corporate Park Drive, off Interstate 287 in Westchester.
According to the announcement, the 100-year-old company plans to build a 125,000-square-foot store and an 8,000-square-foot retail building.
