Wal-Mart will be hosting a ceremony July 13 to celebrate the opening of its biggest new investment in North Carolina, its new nearly $100 million refrigerated distribution center in Mebane.
According to the announcement issued by the company Wednesday, the 450,000-square-foot facility is expected to create more than 550 new jobs. That’s 100 more than was initially promised when the project was announced in late 2013.
The project at 2837 Senator Ralph Scott Parkway is also opening about a month ahead of schedule. Company officials had initially projected it would be open by August 2016.
