KEASBEY — Wakefern Food Corp., the largest retailer owned cooperative in the United States, celebrated the opening of an almost 90,000 sq. ft. extension to its existing warehouse facility in Keasbey with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week.

The Southern Perishables warehouse, originally in excess of 366,000 sq. ft. now measures more than 450,000 sq. ft. to accommodate Wakefern’s recent growth. The expansion added 25 new loading dock doors, for a total of 100, increasing the warehouse’s pallet capacity by 28%.
The construction, which took only six months to complete, increased Wakefern’s ability to service its 47 member companies which individually own and operate more than 228 supermarkets under the ShopRite banner in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. Wakefern also operates 45 PriceRite stores in five states.
