The owner of Virginia Beach’s farm-to-table restaurant Commune now owns both the table and the farm.
Restaurant owner Kevin Jamison says he recently bought the 21-acre New Earth Farm in Pungo, where he worked with former owner John Wilson for years teaching classes and helping farm organically before he opened Commune.
Jamison has started building a solar-powered henhouse for 300 baby chicks, which he expects will supply all of his restaurant’s eggs. Commune goes through about 1,800 eggs a week, so 300 hens laying one a day should produce 2,100 a week, he said.
