Tyson Foods, the city of Green Forest and Carroll County celebrated a big step forward in their partnership this week.
The company officially broke ground Wednesday, Aug. 24, on its expansion project in Green Forest plant. Doug Ramsey, a Tyson senior vice president, said the company plans to build a 200,000-square-foot facility across the street from the existing plant. Plans call for the facilities to be connected by a corridor, he said.
"We also plan to add 85 jobs to the community with this project," Ramsey said. "We make a variety of products here, and we will add production lines and install new equipment."
He said the plans have been designed with food safety, team member safety and environmental protection in mind.
