New York, N.Y. – The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) announced the completed transformation of two New York City stores under The Food Emporium banner. Customers can now enjoy an enhanced shopping experience at the following two Upper East Side locations:
– The Food Emporium located at 1331 1st Avenue and East 72nd Street, and

In addition to the enhanced product offerings and physical changes at these stores, A&P also hired more than 35 new associates, all of whom are well-trained to assist customers in every department of the store.
"The renovations of these two stores gives us reason to celebrate and shows our renewed commitment to our New York City customers," said Sam Martin, A&P's President and CEO. "Our goal is to improve the experience that shoppers have in our stores, and these upgrades are a big step forward in that direction. In addition to new fixtures and cleaner and brighter decor, we've also added more Associates to help our Upper East Side customers. Together, these two remodeled Food Emporiums will offer added convenience, a friendlier store environment, and a wider selection of items to meet the specific preferences of our neighborhood customers."
Both of these neighborhood stores offer a full range of fresh and healthy foods, quality grocery items and gourmet offerings. Highlights include an expanded selection of locally grown produce, meat, poultry and seafood; fresh, in-store sushi bars; and delicious, freshly prepared grab-and-go meals of many varieties for busy New York City dwellers.
"The Food Emporium caters to the unique tastes of New Yorkers with everything from the basics to the highest-quality meat, produce and seafood," said Tom O'Boyle, Executive Vice President of Merchandising, Marketing and Supply & Logistics for A&P. "New Yorkers can find everything they need and want at a great value – right in their own neighborhood."
