Richmond based Legacy Foodservice Alliance recently hosted The Fall Marketplace and Legacy Leadership Conference at the Lansdowne Resort and Spa in Leesburg, Virginia, a suburb of Washington D.C. Attendees from Legacy’s 160-plus Distributor and 600-plus Supplier Membership spent September 30 through October 3 engaged in business-building, collaboration and educational events.
The Marketplace, Legacy’s semi-annual buying and business conference, took place October 1 – 2 and offered Members a chance to see new products, make volume purchases and build relationships.
Deb Winter, Executive Vice President shared; “There were more new products and more new ideas on display at Lansdowne than we have seen in some time. Operator customers want to know what’s new, so they can be creative with their menus and offerings,” said Winter. “And it’s great to see the variety of new items at The Marketplace.”
Steve Push, CEO added; “The Marketplace is historically a big event for us. It is not just a business and buying conference – it’s a time to connect, reconnect and learn.” “We recently attached the Legacy Leadership Conference to the Fall Marketplace to make learning and collaborating with fellow Members easier. And conducting the two meetings together saves Members extra days away from their operations.”
The Legacy Leadership Conference took place October 3. “Saying YES in the Instant Gratification World” was this year’s topic, presented by Barry Friends, from Pentallect Inc. Friends guided participants through opportunities and obstacles foodservice distributors face in today’s millennial dominated work and market environment.
Legacy Members also had opportunities to hear from representatives from the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA) at both The Marketplace and The Legacy Leadership Conference. Mark Allen and Jon Eisen presented an update on current initiatives and legislative activity IFDA is currently tracking on behalf of the foodservice distribution industry.
“We still have a few weeks left in 2018, and The Fall Marketplace builds energy with the Members. This energy typically translates into strong sales momentum as we approach the traditionally busy Holiday Season, and gives The Group a strong start to the New Year,” said Push.
