Staten Island Pathmark Remodel Shows Strong Commitment To The Community

MONTVALE, N.J. – The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. (A&P) announced the debut of its newly renovated Staten Island Pathmark located at 1351 Forest Avenue on Friday, Oct. 5, showing its commitment to the Staten Island community. This store, together with other upcoming remodeled stores in the tri-state area, all reflect A&P’s vision to become the no.1 food and drug store in every neighborhood it serves. 

“Through our store-investment strategy, we aim to strengthen our ties to the communities we serve by providing residents with more products and services that match their diverse needs and cultural preferences,” says Sam Martin, A&P’s President and CEO. “This latest group of remodeled stores reinforces our company’s goal to enhance our customers overall shopping experience.”

The 55,000 square-foot Staten Island Pathmark store has a fresh new look, plus 45 new associates who have been trained to better serve neighborhood customers. New and expanded features of the remodeled store include:

Upgraded seafood and meat departments:
The seafood department now offers an expanded variety of shrimp, whole fish, smoked and salted options. Customers can also get their shrimp, lobster and crab steamed and seasoned free of charge. In the updated meat section, shoppers will find more budget-friendly family packs of beef and pork products.

Deli upgrades:
Customers who like to entertain will appreciate the expanded selection of imported and domestic gourmet cheeses. Additionally, shoppers can enjoy an expanded section of prepared foods, including hot soups.

Revamped bakery section:
Most of the items in the bakery have been rebranded with the Two Forks Bakery logo. In addition to the new packaging, the bakery has a “Hot Pastry Case” filled with authentic Hispanic pastries, as well as new decorated occasion cakes, new cinnamon rolls in three flavors, tres leches cake and premium cupcakes. Plus, the bakery department will bake fresh tortillas on-site daily.

Floral and produce enhancements:
Customers looking for a special gift can find an expanded assortment of fresh flowers, specialty roses and potted plants in the floral department. The upgraded produce section now features a wider variety of fresh cut produce and an expanded organic selection.

Diverse offerings:
From Hispanic food products to Mediterranean and Eastern European flavors, the newly renovated Pathmark now has something for all residents in the diverse Staten Island community.  Plus, the store has a wider variety of kosher items, as well as products imported directly from Italy.

Celebration events:
On Friday, Oct. 5, residents are invited to participate in the Staten Island Pathmark renovation celebration with live entertainment from the Latin jazz band Mano a Mano Trio,free food samples, trivia games, raffles, children’s activities and more. Plus the first twenty customers to enter the store after 9 a.m. will receive a $10 gift card.

In addition to the Staten Island remodel, A&P will celebrate upgrades to its Long Beach Waldbaum’s and Mount Kisko A&P stores.  Both locations feature more than 400 new Mediterranean, German, British and Irish products; additional kosher items in the dairy section; an updated and expanded assortment of health and beauty products that support the company’s Live Better program; a revamped bakery featuring delicious, gourmet Two Forks Bakery desserts; an expanded natural and organic section; plus an extensive assortment of craft and seasonal beers.

By the end of October, the Havertown, Pa., Superfresh store, the Woodland Park, N.J., A&P store, and the Rocky Point, N.Y., Waldbaum’s store will also feature upgraded decor and an expanded food assortment.

A&P’s Executive Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing Tom O’Boyle says these upcoming grand re-openings show the company’s dedication to improving the customer experience. “The renovations and merchandising upgrades to all six of these stores are a prime example of our commitment to being the store of the neighborhood.”
