LANSING TOWNSHIP, MI — Valu Land is a new, small-format store Michigan grocer that Spartan Stores is piloting, which may offer some competition to Aldi’s and Save-A-Lot grocery stores.
With a tagline “groceries for less every day,” Valu Land’s brightly lit interior boasts fresh produce and fresh meat departments, an aisle devoted to pets supplies and even a dollar section that aims to offer a better shopping experience than the competition for the price range.
Many of the products lining the shelves are the grocer’s own Spartan brand or the discounted brand Valu Time.
The opening of a pilot store in Lansing Township on Monday drew a steady stream of shoppers eager to check out the grand opening deals that included a gallon of Spartan milk for $1.68, Valu Time 3-pound ground beef for $2.33 pound, and fresh strawberries for 97 cents a pound.
