A decade after closing its last supermarkets in Lehigh and Northampton counties, ShopRite is returning to the Lehigh Valley.
The company plans to open a store in fall 2013 at 4717 Freemansburg Ave., Bethlehem Township, according to the grocer's website.
The proposed store is part of the long-delayed Field of Dreams housing development, originally planned for hundreds of housing units on a 103.9-acre farm near the Freemansburg Avenue and Route 33 interchange. A New Jersey developer has plans to buy the Field of Dreams tract and erect a larger housing development, dubbed Madison Farms, a hotel, office buildings and the ShopRite.
