Facing the threat of a strike, Food 4 Less executives have upped their contract offer to the grocery-workers union with an offer that union leaders say is fair.
"We were able to ensure that the Food 4 Less workers were treated equally with the other grocery store workers at Ralphs, Vons, Albertsons and Stater Brothers," said Mickey Kasparian, president of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 135 in San Diego.
Southern California union members will be able to vote Jan. 10 on the tentative deal.
The chain has 11 stores in San Diego County, with about 1,000 local workers.
