Morels are a rare, meaty type of mushroom that looks more like a small, wrinkly brain than a pricey delicacy.
This year, it seemed as if dry weather had ruined the two-week Ohio morel season, which is a highly anticipated event for foodies. But morels have finally arrived, popping up at gourmet grocers and on special menus at local restaurants.
The Worthington Inn is serving Athens County chicken with morel sauce, and a house-made gnocchi with local ham, peas and a morel parmesan cream. It will serve a morel risotto with asparagus at the Taste of Dine Originals event later this month.
