WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Monterrey Supermarket is popular in the Latin community with six locations, but several have closed their doors. It surprised customers and suppliers. Small mom and pop companies that supplied these stores with authentic goods are wondering if they will have to close their doors too.
Long before the sun rises, Maria Rydzewski starts her day buying produce for her company Royal Produce. Later in the day, she delivers it to independent grocery stores across South Florida.
Rydzewski's inventory is shrinking because bills are piling up.
