GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Meijer will open its smallest urban store in Grand Rapids later this year, but it won't carry the name of the successful Midwest chain.
The nearly 30,000 square-foot store will go by the moniker of Bridge Street Market. Construction begins next month, and the store is slated to open in the early fall of 2018.
The name is a "nod to its neighborhood location and unique market format," said a statement announcing the store's June 26 groundbreaking. It didn't mention Meijer's involvement in the small store, which is appears to be an one-off for the supercenter chain.
