ARLINGTON, VA—Food Marketing Institute (FMI) today proudly announces the addition of Marjorie DePuy, MBA, to its staff. With more than 15 years of experience in non-profit and association program management, along with relevant industry experience, DePuy comes to FMI grounded in both supply chain and sustainability issues and will strengthen FMI’s work in those strategic areas.
“As FMI’s new Senior Director for Supply Chain and Sustainability, DePuy brings a hands-on awareness of both the individual challenges and opportunities, along with the synergy existing between supply chain and sustainability issues,” remarked Mark Baum, senior vice president for industry relations and chief collaboration officer for FMI. “Her background in consumer package good companies and her practical experience in building collaborative business relationships will make her a strong solutions-based leader in both of these critical operational areas for the food retail community.”
In her new role with FMI, DePuy will build upon FMI’s key functional areas of supply chain and sustainability, amplifying the Association’s traditional strengths in addition to bringing a new awareness of the reciprocity and interplay between the two key areas. Her strategic thinking and mission-driven attitude will enhance FMI’s capabilities as these functional roles are becoming increasingly important to the consumer and the day-to-day work of the food retailer. As the modern supply chain becomes more ‘circular,’ with the consumer at the center, DePuy will help elevate FMI’s ongoing work by creating even more solid, collaborative industry relations between both retailers and suppliers.
DePuy was formerly the vice president of industry relations and education with the Healthcare Distribution Alliance, where she guided strategy and developed content for an annual conference, educational programs and stakeholder engagement focused on the healthcare supply chain. Most recently, while traveling in New Zealand, DePuy lent her talents to support EcoFest North, a month-long series of eco events focused on community-led initiatives in sustainable living.
DePuy started her career at the Grocery Manufacturers Association where she designed and programmed the “Future of Food” Symposium, a groundbreaking industry event, involving hundreds of industry executives, government policy officials, researchers, academics, and other critical stakeholders. While at GMA she also coordinated organizational strategic planning and served as primary liaison to several member committees. DePuy has a BA in government from Hamilton College and an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management.
