Kroger's Dillon To Chair Uncork Kansas Liquor Law Lobby

Retiring Kroger Co. Chairman David Dillon has lined up his first post-retirement gig.

Dillon was named chairman of Uncork Kansas, a group aimed at allowing beer, wine and liquor sales in grocery stores, for the 2015 campaign. Dillon will "raise awareness and elevate key messages" in Uncork Kansas' efforts to get state laws changed, according to an Uncork Kansas news release.

Dillon certainly knows the grocery business and how things work in Kansas. He was Kroger Co. CEO for 10 years before retiring from that role at the end of last year. He led Kroger to stunning growth, with revenues swelling by $45 billion and nearly doubling during his tenure. He stayed on as chairman of the nation's largest operator of traditional supermarkets for another year. But he announced last week he'll retire from that role at year-end. He worked at Kroger and a predecessor company for 38 years.
