Kroger Expands Consumers’ Gas Rewards To Shell

Kroger and Shell are teaming up to expand the supermarket chain's fuel rewards program in Dallas.

Gasoline pumps at about 400 Shell stations in North Texas today begin accepting Kroger Plus rewards cards. Customers receive a 10-cent-a-gallon discount per visit for every $100 spent at Kroger.

Only about half of Kroger's 85 stores in North Texas have gasoline pumps, but most have Shell stations nearby.

"This gives us an opportunity to tap into Kroger's customers," said Andy Whitwell, Shell Dallas-Fort Worth area manager. "These rewards make their customers more loyal. Everyone is looking for values these days, and a loyal customer is a good one to have."
