If you think your neighborhood Kroger is getting bigger – you’re right.
With a one-two punch this month, the Cincinnati-based supermarket operator is super-sizing the shopping experience for customers in Amelia and Independence, opening two separate 133,000-square-foot Marketplace stores.
They tie for the second-largest store in the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky-Dayton region and are among the largest Krogers in the country. The Kroger Marketplace store in Centerville – at 147,000 square feet, the nation’s largest Kroger concept store.
“Kroger is definately on that path – it’s really unique: it’s a food-focused supercenter,” said Scott Mushkin, an analyst with research firm Wolfe Trahan & Co.
