Giant Food remains the largest grocery store operator in Greater Baltimore. With 16.81 percent market share, the Landover-based supermarket chain saw $1.43 billion in local sales in 2015. Safeway's local sales grew from $570.6 million in 2014 to $642.4 million in 2015, placing the grocery retailer at No. 2 on the List again.

Data for this List was obtained from Food World, a Columbia-based trade publication covering the supermarket industry. The List includes retailers in the Baltimore market that sell groceries, drugs, general merchandise and tobacco products.
