Gordon Food Service Breaks Ground On New Western PA Distribution Center

With employees, officials and management posing with shovels in photo-op shifts, Gordon Food Service broke ground Monday on what’s expected to be the region’s largest new distribution center in years.

After closing on buying 62 acres of land at the Findlay Industrial Park a little more than a week ago, the Michigan-based food supplier has begun building a 420,000-square-foot center at the business park, which is located close to Pittsburgh International Airport.

“These are large, complex facilities,” said Scott Hicks, the senior manager of supply chain management for the company. “This will have a major impact on food service in the East and Midwest.”
