Giant Food Announces Lower Prices Again

Landover, Md. – Giant Food, LLC announced today it has again lowered prices on more than 1,500 key staple items throughout all of its stores as part of its continued commitment to lowering prices and saving customers money when they shop. New lower prices will be called out with blue tags on items in the fresh, nonperishable, and health and beauty care departments.

“With lower prices on more than 1,500 additional items, we continue to provide great value to our customers every day,” said Gordon Reid, president of Giant Food. “As an example, Giant is lowering the price of one of our most popular items, rotisserie chickens, from $5.99 to $4.99 every day.”

Customers can see the savings with Giant’s Low Everyday Price signage and blue shelf tags.  Lower price items are also highlighted in the weekly circular. Some of the many lower prices highlighted in this week’s circular include Gatorade Thirst Quencher, which was $1.49 and is now 10 for $10 and Sargento Shredded Cheese, which was $3.29 and is now two for $6.

This latest price drop is part of Giant’s ongoing strategy to help our customers save time, save money, and eat well.

As part of this strategy, Giant produce and bakery departments have been transformed to deliver more local, fresh offerings, better prices, and better quality. As an example, Giant is introducing the freshest local produce to shoppers through its partnership with BrightFarms Capitol Greenhouse, a 150,000 square-foot greenhouse farm located in Culpeper County, Va. BrightFarms is currently providing Giant with an assortment of the fresh salad mixes such as baby arugula, Asian greens, baby spinach, spring mix, spinach blend and baby kale, as well as basil and a variety of tomatoes. The local partnership, launched in March to all 169 of Giant’s stores, will produce one million pounds of produce annually.
