Landover, Md. – Giant Food of Landover, Md. has entered into a definitive agreement with Mrs. Green’s Management Corporation to acquire two of the company’s Fresh & Green’s supermarket locations currently serving the Baltimore market. The following locations are part of this acquisition:
•Fresh & Green’s of Hampden, 1020 West 41st Street, Baltimore, Md. 21211
•Fresh & Green’s of Parkville, 7709 Harford Road, Parkville, Md. 21234
After the sale is complete, which is subject to customary conditions, both stores will temporarily close while the locations are renovated and converted to Giant Food stores. The location at West 41st Street will replace the Rotunda Giant, located in the Rotunda shopping center at 711 West 40th Street, once the conversion is complete. Additional details about the store conversion process will be announced once the sale is finalized.
“Giant Food is excited about the opportunity to remodel and open two convenient locations for Baltimore-area customers,” said Anthony Hucker, president, Giant Food of Landover, Md. “We look forward to making significant improvements to the stores and to offering our unique combination of quality, value and service, which customers have come to expect from Giant for more than seven decades.”
Approximately 125 associates are currently employed in the two Fresh & Green’s locations. Although both stores will temporarily close as part of a conversion process, all associates will be offered employment opportunities with Giant Food. Giant and Mrs. Green’s Management Corporation will continue to work cooperatively to ensure a smooth transition for customers and associates. Additionally, all of our current Rotunda Giant associates will continue employment with Giant.
“Fresh & Green’s enjoyed serving the Hampden and Parkville communities and we thank all of our employees, suppliers and landlords for their hard work and support. All of our remaining stores in Maryland have –and will continue to operate – with a renewed emphasis on improving the overall shopping experience,” said Matt Williams, CEO of Fresh & Green’s in Maryland. “As we look ahead, we will continue to grow our presence, create jobs and invest further in the region to serve more Maryland families.”
