Giant Eagle Supermarket Debuts In-Store Wine Kiosk

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Giant Eagle Market District in Robinson Township is the first supermarket in the Pittsburgh area to sell wine bottles out of in-store vending machines.
The company said it hopes its Monroeville, Cranberry and Shadyside locations will be the next to sell wine, following Wednesday's launch of the first wine kiosk at the Settlers Ridge store.
"I think it's fabulous. I think it's about time," said shopper Tammy Ohrn, of Robinson.
"The PLCB (Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board) sets the prices, and there is a $1 convenience fee that is a part of shopping through the kiosks. Other than that, the prices are relatively consistent with what you would see throughout the state," said Kevin Srigley, a senior vice president with Giant Eagle.
