German discount grocer Lidl is starting to look for property in Florida, according to commercial real estate sources.
Lidl, which is similar in format to Aldi, kicked off its U.S. expansion in mid-2017, opening stores in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Florida wasn't a focus for Lidl when it first started opening U.S. stores, a spokesman for the company told the Tampa Bay Business Journal in 2017.
But that seems to have changed: Real estate sources told Business Journal reporters in Tampa and Orlando that the grocer is beginning to search for sites in the Sunshine State.
