ZeSTIA’s market-leading temperature-control technology and proven reliability support Evergreen’s expanding cold chain capabilities
Osaka – Evergreen Marine Corporation, one of the world’s leading shipping companies with a fleet of more than 200 containerships and a service network spanning five continents, has placed its first order for 6,000 Daikin ZeSTIA reefer container units. The investment will further enhance Evergreen’s growing global cold chain network.
The market-leading ZeSTIA unit is developed by Daikin Reefer, a division of Japan-based Daikin Industries, Ltd. ZeSTIA is recognised for its advanced temperature-control technology, high energy efficiency and proven reliability – critical factors that provide optimal conditions for the safe and effective transportation of fresh produce and other perishable cargo.
Evergreen has transshipment hubs in Asia, the Americas and Europe, as well as a self-built container terminal in Taiwan, and is consistently ranked among the world’s top ten shipping companies, recognised for its capacity and operational scale. With a commitment to environmentally-sustainable operations, the company continues to invest in its growth.
Global demand for perishable cargo continues to grow, so fast, efficient and sustainable cold chain transport is essential for companies such as Evergreen, which looks to extend its cold chain network and capabilities to meet this significant growth in demand.
Daikin is widely recognised for its continued investment in technological research and innovation, ensuring its equipment delivers cutting-edge performance and best-in-class features. The company also maintains high manufacturing and quality standards at its Daikin Refrigeration Suzhou production facility. Such innovative refrigeration technology, commitment to quality, precise temperature control and reduced energy consumption make Daikin’s ZeSTIA units highly advantageous for transporting fresh produce across Evergreen’s service routes.
Of particular note, ZeSTIA’s inverter-driver energy-saving technology modulates motor speed by adjusting power supply, enabling precise temperature control and rapid pull-down performance whilst delivering significant energy savings. When coupled with Daikin Active CA, an advanced controlled atmosphere solution designed to extend the shelf life of perishables by actively reducing oxygen levels and managing CO₂, Daikin’s ZeSTIA unit delivers significant technological, operational and cost-efficiency benefits that support the Evergreen team.
The ZeSTIA units provide exciting opportunities to transport temperature-sensitive produce with confidence across Evergreen’s service routes. Daikin will continue to place the highest priority on clear communication, close collaboration and comprehensive after-sales support for Evergreen, placing great value on building a strong long-term partnership and further developing the relationship.
“We warmly welcome Evergreen Marine Corporation to the Daikin Reefer family” said Mr. Shin Furuta, President of Daikin Reefer. “We look forward to working closely together to strengthen our partnership and support Evergreen in expanding its cold chain capabilities in the years ahead.”
