Detroit's Avalon Bakery Offers Specialty Bread At Toast Bar

DETROIT, MI – Butter is slowly becoming the schmear of the past at Avalon Bakery in Detroit's Cass Corridor neighborhood.
Avalon's new Toast Bar allows Detroiters to try anything from hand-made jams and spreads to smoked salmon on fresh-baked Avalon bread.
The bakery, located at 422 West Willis Street near Wayne State University, began regularly offering four varieties of toast for $3.75 a slice in early September, and Co-Owner Jackie Victor said the experiment has been a good way to get customers to try out different breads.
