The Jefferson County Commission unanimously approved a $400,000 incentive package to bring a Publix distribution center to McCalla during its Thursday morning meeting.
The project requires a $34 million investment. The Lakeland, Florida-based supermarket chain's distribution center will create 200 jobs. The average annual wage for the jobs will be between $35,000 and $40,000 plus benefits.
