MONMOUTH — One hundred fifty-five jobs and more to come.
That's what Monmouth officials, executives from Cloverleaf Cold Storage and Gov. Pat Quinn envision for Warren County, which on Friday celebrated the groundbreaking of a major facility that will attach to Farmland Foods and spur economic growth in a part of the state still regaining its footing in the aftermath of the Great Recession.
"These are good jobs — middle-class jobs you can support a family on," said Quinn, speaking to about 200 people gathered on vacant land near the Farmland plant. "We had a tough recession. Everybody knows that, but we never give up. We always band together."
Completion of the future plant, which will encompass 250,000 square feet, is expected by the end of March 2015. Cloverleaf is putting forth a $30-million investment.
