Prince George's County is likely to be a major focus for German discount grocer Lidl as it seeks to establish a national footprint in the U.S.
As I reported Wednesday, the company is planning to open two new stores in Bowie and Suitland, but that is apparently just the tip of the iceberg. The company met a few months back with county economic development officials and presented plans to open about 10 new stores at select locations across Prince George's, said David Iannucci, the county's assistant deputy chief administrative officer for economic development and public infrastructure.
"They have aggressive and ambitious expansion plans for the county," Iannucci said. "They actually have done a very good job of going all around the county and they're clearly in communities in Prince George's County that are underserved."
