Americold Realty Trust has broken ground on a 306,000-square-foot cold storage facility in Effingham County that will create up to 79 full and part-time jobs.
When the company acquired PortFresh Holdings in January, it said the cost of the new building is expected to be about $60 million.
The building, to be constructed on the company’s property at Old River Road and Interstate 16, will be finished in March 2020.
It will have 15 million cubic square feet and will offer customers advanced blast freezing capabilities, space and infrastructure to support temperature-controlled containerized trade through the Port of Savannah.
