Ahold's Small Format Store Bfresh To Hold Grand Opening Sept. 18th

Ahold unveiled a new, urban-scale grocery store called bfresh in Allston Friday, joining a crowd of food retailers who have moved into cities with smaller markets.
Located in a former Staples store on Harvard Avenue, the 10,000-square-foot space is much smaller than a traditional supermarket and serves a wide assortment of take-out style cuisine to appeal to neighborhood college students. Playing off the name, the store emphasizes its fresh produce and cuts back the dry goods section.
Bfresh had a soft opening Friday and plans to hold a grand opening Sept. 18.
