Pelion, SC – WP Rawl, the premiere grower, processor and shipper of leafy greens in the U.S., joined South Carolina non-profit organization Katie’s Krops on August 8th at the recently opened BJ’s Wholesale Club in Summerville, SC.

Katie’s Krops founder Katie Stagliano was on hand to meet and greet people from her community and raise awareness for her cause. Katie's Krops empowers youth across the country to end hunger in their communities by planting vegetable gardens and donating the harvest to the underserved in their communities.

During the event, shoppers were able to sample two delicious recipes featuring WP Rawl’s Nature’s Greens product line prepared by Katie’s Krops Chef Ryan Hermann. Before departing the Club, many Members donated non-perishable food items to help serve those in need at monthly Katie’s Krops Dinners held at Summerville Baptist Church. On average, volunteers serve 200 meals to families in the community each month who are battling food insecurity, homelessness, life-altering medical diagnosis and unemployment.

Additionally, BJ’s Wholesale Club donated $5,000 to Katie’s Krops from the BJ’s Charitable Foundation. The donation will help Katie’s Krops expand its harvest and distribution of healthy and nutritious food.

“WP Rawl is proud to support such a great local organization.  Katie and her team are inspiring and do so much good in their community.  Our team was able to experience the Katie’s Krops dinners first hand this year at our Katie’s Krops Camp, so knowing these donations are going to help feed all of those people in need is rewarding,” says Christine Jackson, marketing communications manager for WP Rawl.

“We are thankful to BJ’s for welcoming us into their Club and allowing us to collect donations that will help us feed those in need at our monthly dinner,“ said Katie Stagliano. “And of course, we are grateful for the continuous support we have received from WP Rawl over the last five years. Their generosity has helped us make a difference to people not just in our community, but all over the country.”
