Pelion, SC; February 8, 2010 – In January of 2011 WP Rawl earned their SQF 2000 Level 2 Food Safety and Compliance Certification from The SQF (Safe Quality Food) Institute, a division of the Food Marketing Institute.
As a leading grower, shipper and processor of bulk and bagged leafy greens, WP Rawl has always operated under a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) based Food Safety System, but has spent the last year preparing for this higher level food safety certification.
In preparation for the SQF audit and certification, WP Rawl added greater levels of employee awareness, evaluated and improved their processing techniques, maintained stringent documentation requirements and enhanced their training protocols. Their commitment to food safety and consumer protection shows in their exceptional results on their independent annual third party food safety audits.
In a continued effort to stay on the leading edge of food safety, WP Rawl has already begun work on their Level 3 SQF Certification for Food Safety and Quality, which they expect to have completed by the end of the year.
Ashley Rawl, Director of Sales and Marketing for WP Rawl commented, “As a leader in the greens industry we want to offer best-in-class quality, and food safety is a key component of that quality. It is our responsibility to maintain a food safety program that is always evolving and offers consumers a safe, high quality product from a responsible company they can trust.”
The SQF (Safe Quality Food) Program is a leading, global food safety and quality certification program and management system, designed to meet the needs of buyers and suppliers worldwide.
