Washington Apple License Plate Celebrates Five-Year Milestone and $142,000 Raised for Student Support

WENATCHEE, WA – The Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) is proud to mark the fifth anniversary of the Washington apple license plate, a symbol of pride for the state’s iconic tree fruit industry and a vital source of funding for student scholarships.

Since its launch in 2020, the apple-themed license plate has raised more than $142,000 in support of students from families working in Washington’s tree fruit industry. Today, 1,239 of these plates are on the road, serving as daily reminders of the power of community and commitment to education.

“This milestone is not just about the number of plates—it’s about the students whose lives have been changed through the generosity of those who choose to support WAEF in this unique way,” said Rolando Martin, WAEF Chairman. “We are grateful to individuals displaying this plate on their personal and company vehicles. You are making higher education possible for hardworking, deserving young people.”

Each plate purchase and annual renewal contributes $28 to WAEF, providing critical financial support to students from tree fruit industry communities pursuing higher education.

The license plate was created through effort led by industry members through the Washington Apple Commission and WAEF and it continues to reflect the pride and dedication of those connected to and supportive of Washington’s tree fruit industry.
