Village Farms has opened a new distribution center with value added packaging capabilities in New Castle, Delaware. Conveniently located in northeastern Delaware, this 30,000 square foot facility is in close proximity to Village Farms’ South, Mid-Atlantic, and New England core markets. Village Farms chose this location to better serve its customer base in the southern and northern areas of the eastern United States.
Village Farms has enhanced its packaging capabilities to service its growing value added business. According to Bill Robbins, Director of Distribution Center Operations for Village Farms, “The Delaware Distribution Center has value added packaging capabilities that are state of the art and ready to handle volume”. Value added business is a growth sector for Village Farms and in response a number of new items have been added to product offerings to meet this demand. New items currently being offered include; 2lb and 6-count Sweet Bell Pepper bags, 2lb TOV, and 3lb Roma and 3lb Beefsteak tomato clams. In addition, Village Farms is now offering 2-pak and 3-pak Long English cucumbers as well as, 8-count Mini cucumbers.
