It’s all go, go, go here at Toucan Fruit HQ, as we’ve arrived at our first birthday and what better way to celebrate the gift of us to the world than to raise a juice or two to our ever so fabulous founder Soraya Bahrami! But first, let me give you an insight into how our baby was born.
This fruitful success story began when this ex-banker turned exotic fruit entrepreneur started her unique business as so many others do with just an idea.… you could say the seed was planted! Soraya was looking for a way to combine her knowledge of trade finance with her love of the tropics and warm island roots. She began by importing fragrant Tai So Lychees and sweet Baby Queen Victoria Pineapples from the paradise island of Mauritius which was received very well by both the wholesale markets, as well as Partridges Food Markets, one of the most prestigious street markets in London…
Curiosity, excitement and an insatiable appetite for new sensations led to Soraya travelling to far flung lands until she fell in love with Colombian flavours, tastes and aromatics. Needless to say, this culminated in an excellent relationship with Colombian farmers; Toucan now supplies these really rather rare exotic fruits to the UK market!
