Turbana Partners With Price Chopper To Kick Off Produce For Kids’ Spring Campaign
June 18, 2013 | 3 min to read
CORAL GABLES, FL – Turbana announced its partnership with one of its longstanding retailers, Price Chopper, to kick off the Produce for Kids® 2013 campaign entitled “Get Healthy, Give Hope.” The campaign aims to educate consumers about healthy eating with fresh produce, while raising funds for local children’s charities. This year the funds from the “Get Healthy, Give Hope” campaign will benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®, as well as the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth, both of which are institutions in Price Chopper communities.
The campaign, which will be positioned in 132 Price Chopper stores, will run from June 16th-July 27th, 2013. In-store display units located in produce departments will announce the participating produce brands and the goal of driving dollars to local hospitals. Turbana will feature stickers that promote the campaign on each cluster of bananas during the campaign that read, “Turbana is a proud supporter of Produce for Kids.” The campaign also includes reaching out to mom bloggers in Price Choppers local market to discuss the campaign and key messages. Since 2002, Produce for Kids’ campaigns have raised over $4.2 million for local children’s charities
“It’s such a pleasure and an inspiration to be teaming up with one of our retailers that gives back to its community,” says Turbana’s Marketing Director, Marion Tabard. “At Turbana we are always looking for different ways to support our retail partners. ‘Get Healthy, Give Hope’ is a wonderful way for us to do just that. While we are educating consumers on how to eat well and get their daily fruits and vegetables, we are also helping local children’s hospitals by providing them with funds.”
“Price Chopper would like to thank Turbana for partnering with us on the Produce for Kids campaign.” said Keith Frosceno, Group Vice President Fresh Merchandising, Price Chopper. As Turbana has a long history of being the supplier of Price Chopper brand bananas, this campaign is one of several campaigns that Turbana has partnered with Price Chopper on over the years. Last year, Turbana and Price Chopper together championed the Pink Ribbon Produce campaign, which raised funds to provide mammograms and educational programs to help save the lives of thousands of uninsured women, while educating people how to fulfill healthy lifestyles. The campaign reached about 5.66 million individuals. And this year, Price Chopper and Turbana will together be donating five salad bars to schools in Price Chopper’s local community.
For the last twenty-five years, Turbana has also helped build sustainability and growth in its own community — the banana-growing areas in Colombia — through Turbana’s social foundation Fundauniban. By supporting social projects in the banana-growing regions, Turbana has been able to build a solid foundation for a strong and reliable company and recognize the importance of helping its retailers do the same.
