Overland Park, KS – Tiger Cool Express LLC, an innovative and cost effective temperature-controlled intermodal transporter of produce and food products, announced a signed purchase and sales agreement to acquire 200 53 ft. refrigerated, insulated rail containers from Quingdao CIMC Special Reefer Co. Ltd., based in Quingdao, China.
The agreement calls for deliveries to be made starting in early May and contains an option for 300 additional containers to be delivered by the end of 2015. The CIMC container specifications are 800 pounds lighter than previously manufactured domestic intermodal refrigerated containers. Refrigeration for all containers will be provided by Midlands Carrier Transicold, delivering its X4 7300R rail edition refrigeration units, boasting significant improvements in refrigeration performance and efficiency, and with greatly reduced gas emissions. International Telematics will provide its ibright® single platform telematics system to manage and control operations using integrated telecommunications between assets for greater visibility, reliability, and efficiency.
The acquisition of the full order will bring the Tiger Cool Express fleet to 734 refrigerated containers. The order was made on the first anniversary of the delivery of Tiger Cool Express’ first refrigerated container on February 3, 2014. Tom Finkbiner, CEO of Tiger Cool Express LLC said, “We are delighted to be in the position to make this order. The response to our service offerings from our customer base has been gratifying, and we are indebted to our employees and associates who have worked through a very difficult service environment. In addition, our financial sponsor, Tiger Infrastructure Partners, LLC, has been very supportive and a source of encouragement in this endeavor. Our customers have given us a clear indication that their primary business requirement is capacity for the foreseeable future and this investment is being made to meet that customer need.”
“We are very happy to be chosen as Tiger Cool Express’s container provider,” said Robert Meng, Chief Marketing Officer of Qingdao CIMC Special Reefer Co., Ltd. “As an expert in specialized reefer and insulated containers, CIMC is confident its products and service will meet the needs of TCE and its customers.”
“We’re excited about the relationship and pleased to provide Tiger Cool Express with additional X4 7300R rail units for its innovative and growing refrigerated transport operation,” said Bill Willett, President and owner of Midlands Carrier Transicold, Omaha NE. “Delivering ultra-high refrigeration performance and efficiency, the Carrier Transicold X4 series combined with the turn key maintenance agreement with Midlands Carrier perfectly complement the reliability and sustainability goals of Tiger Cool Express.”
“International Telematics is delighted to be working with Tiger Cool Express to provide our refrigerated telematics solution,” said Craig Marris, President North America of International Telematics Corporation. “The ibright® platform has been designed for our customers to improve operational efficiency – to make them more competitive, provide real time cold chain visibility, plus ensure regulatory compliance obligations are being met. Our offering ensures Tiger Cool Express’s customers are receiving superior service, and they can have confidence their loads are protected and well managed.”
