Monterey, California – Day one of the 2015 Tour de Fresh 250 mile 4-day ride from Hickory, NC to the 2015 Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit Convention in Atlanta, GA is only about one month away! Tour de Fresh is a collaborative event that unites the produce industry in raising private funds to benefit the “Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools” campaign. The goal is to finance 100+ new salad bars in various school districts across the country. Each Tour de Fresh participant is required to raise $3,000, the cost of one salad bar per school.

In gearing up for the big ride, Team Tanimura & Antle and The Wharf Marketplace are proud to present the first annual Cornhole Tournament series to benefit Tour de Fresh and the mission of bringing fresh salad bars to schools.

As a premier sponsor of this event, T&A employees, Aaron Torres, Helena Beckett and Christa Schuck are riding with great pride and motivation.

“Our 1st Annual Cornhole Tournament is a fun event held at an awesome place that benefits an even greater cause. Our goal is to stick with it until salad bars are in every school cafeteria in our country,” says first time rider and Sales and Marketing Manager Aaron Torres.

The first official day of tournament play was on Thursday, September 3rd and featured tastings from local Monterey brewery company, Mad Otter Ale, with over six teams participating. Our first team winners, brothers John and Brian

Louie, went home with the prize of two bottles of local Monterey County wine and The Wharf Marketplace gear as well as becoming the first qualifiers for the Championship round later this month.

Tournament entry fee is $20 per person with all donations going towards the 2015 Tour de Fresh fundraising efforts. The upcoming tournament dates are Sunday, September 13th at noon and Thursday, September 17th at 5pm. There are still two chances to qualify for the championship round on September 27th at noon!
