Superfresh Growers QR Codes Huge Success

Domex Superfresh Growers® introduced two pound cherry bags and clam shells this season with QR codes printed on each package. “Since the release of the bag and clamshell just three weeks ago, we have already tracked 2,000 hits to our mobile website via scans of the QR codes,” say Loren Queen, marketing and communications manager. “Our highest numbers of hits have come from the Far East by a significant percentage followed by the Pacific Northwest, Canada and the West Coast of the United States”, he notes.

QR codes, or quick reference codes, are a unique type of two dimensional codes that smartphones can be equipped to scan using their camera lens and downloaded “apps”, or applications. The codes can be used to direct consumers to websites, coupons, videos, etc. The codes on Superfresh Growers cherry packages lead consumers to the Superfresh Growers mobile website where they can access information about different varieties, nutrition facts and answers to frequently asked questions among many other pieces of information. “This tool will become very helpful in connecting the consumers to our growers, helping them understand who is growing the food they eat. We feel this is critical to increasing consumption” concludes Queen.

Domex Superfresh Growers® is an international fruit marketing firm located in Yakima, Washington. We grow and market both organic and conventionally grown apples, pears, cherries, apricots and other stone fruits.
