The Sunshine Sweet Corn Farmers of Florida are growing their marketing support for retailers this spring with their first ever television advertising campaign. As part of a partnership with the Florida Department of Agriculture’s Fresh From Florida campaign, ads featuring Sunshine Sweet Corn will air in Indianapolis, Buffalo and Raleigh-Durham from April 14 through May 11. The spots will showcase easy-to-prepare recipes with Sunshine Sweet Corn and other Florida produce.
“The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is proud to partner with the Sunshine Sweet Corn Farmers in this effort to drive sales for their delicious sweet corn,” said Susan Nardizzi, Director of Marketing for the Department. This is only the second television effort of our “Recipes” campaign airing in the domestic US, outside of Florida. We have seen amazing gains in brand awareness and purchase intent in the 10 Florida markets since our campaign debuted in 2013.”
Paul Allen, SSCF president described the ad campaign as just one part of a larger marketing effort that will raise consumer awareness and drive demand for Sunshine Sweet Corn from Florida.
“The growers experienced a tough start last year that was followed by a record May. This year we will be out there earlier, with a stronger message for what is shaping up to be a great looking spring crop,” Allen added.
Consumers will also be reached online and through traditional media with the message that corn is not just a summer treat, but a sweet taste that can be enjoyed throughout the year. The award-winning website, sunshinesweetcorn.com, features a variety of preparation techniques and recipes that pair it with other spring favorites, such as radishes and asparagus.
The Sunshine Sweet Corn Farmers of Florida is a voluntary organization of growers and shippers in Florida, the largest grower of sweet corn in the U.S. You can view the ads, and learn more about the organization’s promotion and education programs at www.sunshinesweetcorn.com.
