Rio Rico, AZ – SunFed is gearing up for PMA Fresh Summit in Atlanta Georgia this year, with new additions to its ever-evolving Perfect Produce® program.
To meet the growing demand for diversification in the produce department, SunFed is debuting year-round Perfect Limes™ as its inaugural entry into tropical produce at PMA booth 2259.
“Limes continue to increase in demand and this expansion of our program compliments our growing line of fresh produce,” says COO, Matt Mandel.
Cultivated on family-owned farms in the fertile growing areas in Mexico, these limes are a natural progression for SunFed, and support the company’s traditional line of products that include Perfect Squash®, Perfect Peppers®, Perfect Cucumbers®, Perfect Eggplants®, Perfect Romas®, and more.
SunFed limes will be offered in a 10-pound and 40-pound box, designed with the company’s signature vibrant 60’s pop art-inspired packaging.
To further assist buyers and retailers in differentiating their produce programs, SunFed is also introducing its Melonheads™, seedless watermelon program. Currently available in both organic and conventional options, SunFed will be rolling out this program with new boxes and labels in the coming weeks.
“We are continuing our pioneering work with unique melon varieties as we continue our slow launch of our Melonheads™ program,” Brett Burdsal, says.
SunFed is also revealing its Yum Melon™ program to Fresh Summit attendees and melon-lovers this year. Currently conducting commercial trials with select retailers, SunFed’s objective is to answer the continued demand for versatile new, one-of-a-kind fruit varieties as consumers search for healthier ways to enhance their meal and snacking options.
Originally grown in the South of France, the Yum Melon™ also possesses attributes that align with SunFed’s desire to offer the best quality and consistency to its retail partners.
“This melon variety has an amazing flavor and aroma that when coupled with its distinct sweetness, really delivers a great, consistent melon experience every time you eat it,” Mark Cassius says. “The Yum Melon™ is truly something different.”
As organics continue to be an area of rapid growth for SunFed, the company will also be showcasing new Perfect Organic® labels which seek to promote the USDA certified-organic nature of SunFed items while also ensuring the produce is rung up correctly, and with ease, at the register.
“We want to help boost organic growth in produce departments,” Burdsal says. “Our team realizes that challenges arise with mislabeling as well as identification of the products at checkout. Our desire is to address those issues earlier in the process, before they affect the bottom line.”
Fair Trade Certification is also an ongoing program that remains top-of-mind for SunFed growers and marketers, as the team continues to address the conscientious retailer and consumer.
This year, keep an eye out for a new PMA Fresh Summit look for the SunFed team, as the company presents a new booth created from a repurposed shipping container
“This new design aligns with our sustainability goals and initiatives.” Cassius says. “We welcome everyone to stop by booth 2259 and check out our new platforms, programs and booth. See you all in Atlanta!”
