Specialty Potato Alliance Grower Win National Recognition

Center, CO. – Rockey Farms, a founding member of the Specialty Potato Alliance (SPA) has received national recognition for soil management on their farm here in Center. “Everyone thought we were crazy,” noted Brendon Rockey referring to the methods of farming he and his brother Sheldon chose. “Now our crops are better, our land is healthier, our water usage is down over 50%, costs are down and yield is up.” Rockey concluded.

Rockey Farms is a certified seed farm that recently developed three new proprietary varieties exclusively grown and marketed by the Alliance members. You can meet the growers, you can meet with the distributors and you can meet with the growers and taste the future of Fingerling Potatoes this weekend at the PMA Fresh Summit..  The Rockey Rose, Red Rebel, and Merlot will all be available for tasting and the Alliance expects that you will agree these potatoes are “Finger-Looking” good.

At the Anaheim Convention Center, the Specialty Potato Alliance will be whooping it up in booth number 974. Their expanded line of products and packaging will be on full display. “In a more relaxed atmosphere, we hope to be able explain the advantages working with SPA creates,” noted Mark Pittenger, sales director for the Alliance.” This year we can sit down with a customer and emphasize the year round distribution, packaging and variety options along with the unique flavors SPA has to offer. Customers willing to take the time will really understand our commitment to these products.
