Millen, GA – The Southeast Produce Council has officially appointed their new Board of Directors President for 2016-2017, Teri Miller of Fresh Market. The introduction of the council’s first female president was made on September 29, 2016 at the General Session Luncheon hosted at the SEPC’s recent Southern Innovations Symposium conference in Williamsburg, VA.
During the announcement, the council raved about having Teri Miller as Council president for the coming year. David Sherrod, executive director of the SEPC announced, “We are excited to see the how far we can grow with a leader like Teri. Her experience in the industry provides an opportunity to connect with all members on a more personal level to help shape the Council into a networking and educational resource that exceeds expectations.”
Miller has sat on the SEPC Board of Directors for 7 years and was on the founding committee of Southern Roots, an SEPC program that works to provide support, education and mentorship for women working in the produce industry.
Miller sees education as a top cultural pillar she will focus on improving during her presidency, working to provide more resources and education for all members. Discussions have already started around adding more workshops to Southern Exposure and the Southern Innovations Symposium, the introduction of a stand-alone summit of produce professionals to understand each other’s needs and businesses, and the addition of a supplier-based STEP-UPP program in addition to their existing retail/foodservice based program.
“It’s an honor to accept the position of the next SEPC Board of Directors President,” Miller stated. “I’ve been given the opportunity to work along a great group of people to help move the SEPC forward to provide more for its’ members, while providing support for women in the industry and encourage them to get more involved to help shape the next chapter of the SEPC.”
With a passion to bring to light the cost efficiencies of produce, Miller has lead top-notch business strategy campaigns and impeccable logistics work. As well as being a former Category Manager for Food Lion, Miller is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
