Binks serves as managing director and owner of FreshTec, the Cambridgeshire, UK based produce consultancy, serving a diverse list of governmental agencies, seed companies, and well known fresh suppliers and marketing companies. FreshTec technically supports clients with food safety, farm assurance, Integrated Pest Management, and seed and crop production challenges.

The "grassroots" knowledge Binks gained at age 16 working in an agriculture testing laboratory ignited a professional career and passion for solving issues faced by local farmers.

Binks is a graduate of Manchester Polytechnic where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Biology followed by a postgraduate diploma in crop protection with Aberdeen University. In 1996 Binks completed a Ph.D in Tropical Agriculture at Reading University. He is currently active in the UK's Fresh Produce Consortium and Vegetable Consultancy Association.
