Santa Clara, CA. RedLine Solutions today announced that their educational PTI seminars have been receiving high marks from attendees and attracting growing audiences. The series continues June 5 in Ellensburg, Washington and June 14th in Mission, Texas. This educational event covers everything grower shipper packers need to know to get started with PTI.
Attendees report that one of the key benefits is the opportunity to get their specific questions answered by experts. At the recent Delano symposium, one attendee said, “I appreciated that it was not a focus on pushing RedLine, but informative about PTI and the produce industry as a whole.”
At the symposium, Gary Fleming, RedLine’s Vice President Strategic Services provides a overview of the PTI from the grower shipper perspective. He sheds light on the GS1 standards which are the foundation of the PTI, and explains how they are used for PTI. Gary also covers the recent updates to best practices for PTI including case and pallet labelling.
Todd Baggett, Co-Chair of the PTI Technology Working Group (TWG) and RedLine’s CEO, discusses why PTI matters, and show how implementing PTI provides operational improvements to your organization. Todd also explains what is required for PTI compliance in the packing shed and cooler, including some of the challenges of implementing PTI. He shares lessons in addressing PTI challenges from production deployments across multiple commodities.
Leading retailers and food service companies are starting to ask for PTI compliance now. Companies are actively evaluating their internal processes and working to find the best way to meet the coming requirements. Those who don’t respond are likely to be left behind as retailers shift business to companies who provide PTI case labeling. PTI compliance affects all companies through the supply chain, not just the packer. All companies handling product from the time it is packed until it is received by a retail store or food service operator must be able to trace the GTIN and Lot ID back to the source lots for the products they handle.
