ORLANDO, Fla. – Recognizing that the holidays present challenges when it comes to staying healthy, Produce for Kids is introducing a multifaceted digital holiday season promotion to provide families with the support they need. The holiday promotion includes a 12 Weeks of Slow Cooker giveaway, the third annual #FestiveFlavors Twitter party, a dedicated Ask The Expert meal planning session on the Produce for Kids Facebook page, the Festive Flavors free downloadable e-cookbook, a blogger campaign, and dedicated overall communication strategy to elevate the #FestiveFlavors hashtag.
“Between parties, family get-togethers and meal planning, the holidays can be a stressful time for families. We’re excited to serve as a season-long one-stop-shop resource for healthy holiday ideas,” said Trish James, vice president, Produce for Kids. “Our hope is that families will see how easy it can be to add fruits and veggies into their holiday routine.”
Kicking off the holiday season, the 12 Weeks of Slow Cookers giveaway began Nov. 2 and will alternate each week between the Produce for Kids social media outlets. To enter, consumers will be asked to share the giveaway, snap a photo of their slow cooker recipe and tag Produce for Kids, or simply retweet for a chance to win a slow cooker.
On Nov. 11 at 9pm ET, Produce for Kids, along with Naturipe®, Crunch Pak® and D’Arrigo Bros. of CA, will host the third annual #FestiveFlavors Twitter party where attendees can win prizes and share recipes, tips and healthy holiday ideas. The following week, on Nov. 17 from 1-2 pm ET, Produce for Kids will host the very first Ask the Expert Facebook event where anyone on Facebook can have their holiday meal planning questions answered live by meal planning expert Brenda Thompson of Meal Planning Magic.
The Festive Flavors: 12 Fresh Takes on Holiday Favorites e-cookbook from Produce for Kids will be housed on produceforkids.com and available for free download all season long. The e-cookbook contains 12 healthier versions of holiday classics, including Sweet Potato Casserole and Cranberry Apple Crisp, plus festive snack ideas and meal planning tips. Festive Flavors is available to download at www.produceforkids.com/festiveflavors.
“The holidays are a crucial time for the sale of fresh produce and can make or break sales for the year,” said James, former produce category manager at ACME. “It’s important to us to spread the healthy eating message year-round while supporting the sales efforts of our partners. All recipes featured in Festive Flavors highlight fresh produce as main ingredients.”
