Cherry Hill, NJ – Procacci Brothers Sales Corporation and their affiliated farming operation, Santa Sweets Inc., presented Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill, NJ with a check for $16,100 in support of the “Estrella Naciente” (Rising Star) Scholarship Program at Camden Catholic High School.
The Estrella Naciente Scholarship Program at CCHS is a partnership between Procacci Brothers Sales Corporation, Santa Sweets Inc., The Spanish Sports Network and Camden Catholic High School to provide generous and renewable tuition assistance to Hispanic students at Camden Catholic. Prior to the 2016 Major League Baseball Season, Procacci Brothers and Santa Sweets pledged to donate $100 to the scholarship fund for every home run hit by the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team. At year’s end, the ’16 Phillies team totaled an impressive 161 home runs. Procacci Brothers and Santa Sweets have renewed their $100-per-home-run-pledge for the 2017 season.
During the presentation ceremony, freshmen CCHS students Cassandra Arencibia and Nicole Jimenez were recognized in front of their classmates as the inaugural recipients of the scholarship. The two amazing young women were selected as the 2017 winners based on a number of factors, including outstanding academic achievement and community involvement.
Procacci Brothers’ COO and Camden Catholic alumnus, Joseph M. (J.M.) Procacci addressed a packed auditorium of students and faculty during the event, “We founded the Estrella Naciente scholarship at CCHS to give back to the Hispanic community,” said Procacci. He continued, “We are honored to be here today to present Camden Catholic High School with this donation and to recognize two outstanding young women, Cassandra and Nicole.”
Camden Catholic president, Mary Whipkey, spoke of the wide-ranging impact that the Estrella Naciente Scholarship will have on CCHS and the community as a whole, "Camden Catholic High School is honored to partner with proud alumnus J.M. Mr. Procacci's generosity encourages our current students to work hard, to use their Camden Catholic education to become successful, and eventually to give back to our community. Later this year, Procacci and Santa Sweets are expanding their fundraising efforts for Estrella Naciente to include a charity golf tournament scheduled for September 11, 2017 at Medford Village Country Club in Medford, NJ. Proceeds from the golf tournament will go towards establishing new Estrella Naciente scholarships and programs, including a college scholarship for Hispanic students at Bridgeton High School in Bridgeton, NJ.
