The Peruvian Asparagus Importers Association (PAIA) has announced that Matt DeCarlo, President of Altar Produce Inc., Calexico, California has recently accepted the position of West Coast CoChair for PAIA.
In light of recent tragic events with the sudden passing of Chris Martin, President of Gourmet Trading and West Coast CoChair for PAIA – Matt DeCarlo, President of Altar Produce Inc., Calexico, California will immediately assume the position of West Coast CoChair for PAIA.
The association grieves the loss of Chris Martin and provides prayers for the family and its company employees.
PAIA announces their CoChairmen for the 2012-2013 term; East Coast Chair – Walter Yager, CEO of Alpine Fresh, Miami, Florida and West Coast Chair – Matt DeCarlo, President of Altar Produce Inc., Calexico, California.
PAIA conveys that they will continue to press forward with their Mission Statement and objectives in full force.
PAIA Mission Statement:
The Peruvian Asparagus Importers Association (PAIA) is an organization of US companies involved in the trade of importing fresh Peruvian asparagus within North America. We are committed to improving the process and present a united forum through which dialogue and progress is achieved. We represent the industry to the trade and focus on issues of political and logistical importance.
The association will focus even greater efforts in 2012 on spreading the positive word to industry trade press, supermarkets and consumers concerning the benefits of fresh asparagus through articles, advertisements, direct-communication, and trade show participation. The association anticipates increasing consumption and demand for fresh asparagus in 2012.
