SALINAS, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Organic Alliance, Inc., (Pink Sheets: ORGC) an emerging grower and shipper of organic-certified, fair trade and conventional fresh foods in the global marketplace, today announced the appointment of Christopher B. White as director, global supply chain development. In his new position, Mr. White will be responsible for expanding Organic Alliances international producer network, contract negotiation, quality control screening, certification compliance, export/import logistics and overseeing Organic Alliances innovative producer development initiative. The producer development initiative aims to expand the benefits of Organic and Fair Trade production worldwide to producers who are committed to social and environmental responsibility.
According to Parker Booth, Organic Alliances President and Chief Operating Officer, bringing Mr. White on board not only helps build the companys international grower alliance but helps to further solidify its commitment to establishing a stable, year-round supply of organic and fair trade products.
Our vision is to set up a win-win model for industry in which we not only create a dependable supply of organic products at reasonable pricing levels but we do it while improving the welfare of our growers and suppliers, said Booth. Chris strong experience working directly with growers in Latin America and developing cooperatives that meet fair trade certified standards uniquely positions us to quickly expand our product mix to include a broad array of fresh and processed foods not previously certified as fair trade.
A food professional with international experience in building models of sustainable production and trade, Mr. White was most recently founder and president of Nexchange Organics, an organic commodity trading and supply development firm. Prior to that, while based in San Jose, California and Urupan, Mexico, he served as business development director at Fairtrasa International, one of Mexico’s largest organic exporters. Mr. White also oversaw the development of Argentinas first Fair Trade certified production as the sustainable product director at interrupcion* Fair Trade in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He began his career as national account manager at TransFair USA, the founding U.S. Fair Trade certifier in Oakland, California.

Mr. White received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and was graduated with honors from the University of California Santa Barbara. He began his new role at Organic Alliance in September 2009 and will be based in Salinas, California.
